SCCS’s curriculum
is designed to prepare students for undergraduate studies at colleges and universities around the world. The school is accredited by AdvancED and the Bolivian Ministry of Education. As such it is able to offer both American and Bolivian High School Diplomas.
The SSCS curriculum is selected to prepare students for the most prestigious colleges and universities around the world and is driven by our mission to: cultivate lifelong learners who are critical and creative thinkers, principled leaders and compassionate global citizens. To that end, the following three strategies drive our curricular decision-making process:
- We will develop and deliver an innovative, personalized and differentiated learning experience that allows our students to embody our mission.
- We will develop systems, structures and services that support the social/emotional well-being of our SCCS community in order to develop principled leaders and lifelong learners.
- We will enhance the opportunities for engagement, inclusion and diversity within the SCCS Jaguar community in order to maximize the potential of every learner.
Our resources are research-based and we use rigorous standards, including Common Core Standards (CCSS), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and standards determined by the Bolivian Ministry of Education to guide our instruction. SCCS is a college preparatory school where on average over ninety-nine percent of the graduates go on to university. Top graduates of SCCS are accepted to some of the most competitive universities world-wide.
Instruction is in English but students take Spanish classes. Our academic vision promotes deep understanding and connections rather than surface knowledge. Small classes allow for differentiated instruction and active engagement. We offer a range of courses, many student selected topics and offer Advanced Placement (AP) and on-line courses which give students an opportunity to earn college credits. We are an official testing center for the College Board SAT exams and for exams leading to the Advanced Placement International Diploma. The school is accredited by AdvancED and the Bolivian Ministry of Education, allowing us to offer students both American and Bolivian High School Diplomas.
