Child Protection Policies

SCCS CHILD PROTECTION POLICY
Revised Yearly

In accordance with AMISA (American International Schools in the Americas) and international guidelines, SCCS has elaborated a policy regarding the safekeeping of our students in line with our mission and vision.  International guidelines require us to publish and socialize this policy with our stakeholders, following the laws of our host country Bolivia.

This policy handbook will be presented yearly to the staff and Board of Directors of the school. Staff will be provided with a clear explanation as well as parents. Our Leadership staff will participate in the ICMEC and Second Step Child Protection Trainings on an annual basis, and update the policy in accordance with current best practices.

Our policy is based on both international and Bolivian law, and on the U.N. Convention on Rights of the Child which Bolivia has signed. The two key articles are:

Article 19 – Protection from abuse and neglect

The State shall protect the child from all forms of maltreatment by parents or others responsible for the care of the child and establish appropriate social programs for the prevention of abuse and the treatment of victims.

Article 34 – Sexual exploitation

The State shall protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse, including prostitution and involvement in pornography.

By enrolling your child at SCCS, you agree to work in partnership with the school.

When you enroll your child at SCCS, you agree to collaborate with the school and to abide by the statutes, handbooks and policies of our school. It is important to us that all parents embrace our Child Protection Policy and work with us in its implementation so that each of our students grows and develops in an atmosphere of safety, respect, and dignity.

It is our shared responsibility to provide a safe environment free from danger.

Our school promises to:

  • Train our staff annually
  • Provide information and guidance to parents about child safety and dangers in our modern world
  • Carefully hire appropriate personnel
  • Provide sessions to our children to protect them

We want to train our staff, parents, and students to understand what it is to maintain and grow in a safe environment, working together to educate all and maintain a protective environment, where children know their rights, who to contact in case of danger, and feel confident that SCCS is a safe place to be.

Life affords no greater responsibility, no greater privilege, than the raising of the next generation.
